Hand written About Me text
Artist Danielle Myers at Fingals Cave Staffa

Welcome, my name is Danielle!

Born in Barnsley, Yorkshire; I am currently living and working in Glasgow, Scotland.

I studied both photography and interdisciplinary art at Barnsley College and Huddersfield University, where I developed my love for experimenting with many mediums.

I consider myself an Interdisciplinary Artist. I work in pen, pencil, watercolour, acrylic, gouache, printmaking, papercraft and embroidery; although I prefer to work in gouache and fineliner pen. My subjects range from the natural such as flowers, birds, mountains and landscapes; to architecture both old and new, and everything in-between.

I love to photograph places and situations in everyday life or while travelling, and aim to recreate that beauty and atmosphere in my paintings.

I am greatly inspired by vintage botanical illustrations and early 19th century children’s book illustrations, along with artists such as Alphonse Mucha, Avril Paton, Claude Monet, Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

My favourite piece of art is ‘Windows in the West’ by Avril Paton, which is on display at The Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum. I also enjoy Mackintosh’s watercolours, both floral and architectural.

When not making art I like to read- currently Golden Age detective novels, although my favourite books are ‘Persuasion’ by Austen, ‘The Hundred and One Dalmations’ by Dodie Smith and ‘Jane Eyre’ by Bronte. I also like to bake and cook, enjoy visiting country houses/castles and going for walks.
